Like what you see of CSA’s portfolio glamour shots? We have Shannon Holm to thank for a handful of them. Our resident photographer just launched a new site for her side business. Fashion, events, city streets and fabulous faces, she does it all.

Stop and smell the herbs

We’re always looking for new outdoor spots, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is the pick of the week for the foodies in the office (not to mention, the BBG is a former CSA client). In honor of its 100th anniversary, the BBG is showing off its newly revitalized 17,000 square foot Herb Garden, where the fruits and plants are in the height of the season. Tomatoes and potatoes are sprouting up next to wheat, barley, rosemary and the like, and the greenery provides the perfect backdrop for a summery stroll.
To the Barnes Museum we go!

Can a whole museum be stolen? In preparation for our staff trip to the Barnes Foundation in PA tomorrow, we’ve been reading up on the collection (181 Renoirs! 59 Matisses! 46 Picassos!) and learning about the museum’s move in 2012 to downtown Philly.
“Barnes wanted to empower people to experience art—and, by extension, life—at its most profound levels.”
Travel mode

We still have two weeks before our office-wide summer break, but we’re already in the vacation mindset (don’t worry, don’t worry, we’re working, too). Nice to see some of our favorite artists are feeling the same way: Christoph Niemann’s brilliant account of a transatlantic flight is just like being there, and David Sedaris gives an undeniable account of the special people you meet in airports (subscription needed). Just two more weeks…

Ken is judging Print magazine’s Regional Design Annual today. Watch out, NYC designers.
Can’t wait to get the RDA in the mail? Here’s a brief slideshow of some previous winners.

Communication Arts featured the CSA-designed website for law firm Cravath, Swaine and Moore LLP as its “Webpick of the Day.” Click here for the CommArts gallery, and read on for more about our approach for the redesign, launched last month.
New Toy: LiveSketch

Ken Carbone says:
Done with a .99 cent app. An homage to Sean Scully.
More on LiveSketch for the iPad: A technological canvas where your finger is the paintbrush. The thickness of the line increases or decreases based on the speed in which you draw, and the depth of shading is determined by how many times you glide your finger over the screen. Remarkably precise!
Meet Nick

We are VERY excited to welcome Nick Spriggs to the CSA family as our Senior Interactive Designer. We’re equally fond of his organization of happy hours as we are for his stellar creative output. See for yourself.

What makes a great partnership?

Who would know better than Ken and Leslie? Anne Fisher featured the duo in a Crain’s New York Business article that describes the fine art of collaboration. For CSA, it’s not just about opposites, but the “equality of opposites,” according to Leslie. “We divide and conquer,” she says. “With our different skill sets, we have that much more to offer.” Read the article for more.
