A smashing victory by the CSA ping pong team!
New York, NY, April 29, 2009 – The CSA ping pong team of Jose Gomez and Paul Pierson bested a field of 12 teams in a doubles ping pong tournament at the offices of Corbis www.corbis.com and Veer www.veer.com on Wednesday night. With a slide show of Corbis table tennis images from the Olympics playing on the flat screen TV, Gomez and Pierson methodically dissected the competition for their first championship in over a year.
The most anticipated match www.facebook.com came in the semi-finals when newcomers Gomez and Pierson faced the previous champions Mikal Cook of McCann Erickson www.mccann.com and freelance writer Dave Ramirez www.thedaveramirez.com. The CSA team used changes of pace and spin to disrupt the high powered attack game of the Cook/Ramirez team. Gomez's serve proved too much to handle, and the CSA team won the best of three match two games to none.
CSA's Greg Taube also competed in his first ever ping pong tournament. His intense focus on putting paddle to ball every time led his team back from the brink, forcing a 20-20 tie in game three. But the backspin serve tripped up the budding star, and he was eliminated in the first round.
