Chicago Symphony Orchestra: Typography as Music

Following a $110 million-dollar renovation and expansion of its Symphony Center, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra needed a vibrant identity that would represent its diverse activities, bolster its world-class reputation, and appeal to potential donors.

A new monogram for the institution, rendered as a swirling bass clef, served as the iconic graphic element. The design system was applied to everything from merchandise to banners to event communications, while also tying into wayfinding and a donor recognition sign program that seamlessly guides and informs visitors throughout the center.
