Performing over 100 sold-out shows each year, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is one of the most distinguished orchestras in the country. They engaged CSA to revitalize their brand and set the stage for unveiling their newly renovated home, Symphony Center.
Giving guests the experience they seek
We established a wayfinding system that perfectly fit the balance of Symphony Center guests: one that clearly directs first-time visitors, but blends into the design for repeat audience members. More regal and modern than transitional, the system took cues from the architectural materials and fully integrated into the institution experience.
Making beautiful music together
Working closely with the Board of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, we got to the core of their vision for the institution. We designed a singular identity, rich with meaning. Resembling both a reinterpretation of the bass clef and the C in Chicago, the new logo felt modern and musical, without being too literal.
Signaling a new beginning
The new identity was launched in a big way with a four-story-tall banner announcing the opening of the new Symphony Center. Full of energy and new life, the brand was made tangible in new merchandise and communications.
